Hard Work pays off for Peasholm Park
12th May 2009
Scarborough’s Peasholm Park will be able to be kept in tip-top condition after receiving hundreds of pounds worth of new tools.
Peasholm Park, located on Scarborough’s North Bay near our Clifton Hotel, has a group of volunteers that look after and maintain it and this has been rewarded when the Friends of Peasholm Park were given £750 from O2’s national It’s Your Community fund.
The money that has been given to the group has been used to buy a variety of tools including, spades, garden forks and a wheelbarrow.
Christine Mark, who is the chairman of the friends group, said:
“We applied for some money for the fund and we were delighted when we were told we would get some. Before this we were using my tools and there just were not enough. Now we have plenty and they will be put to good use.”
The new tools will be used by the friends volunteers and will be mostly used for maintaining the lily pond at Peasholm Park.
It is hoped that these new tools will help maintain and also improve Scarborough’s much loved park and that over the Summer months all of the volunteers hard work will be appreciated and enjoyed by locals and also those staying at Scarborough hotels.
