06th Jul 2009

Scarborough hotels have been given an early season boost as last minute tourists have been flocking to the coastal town.

The return of The Great British holiday and the better weather over the past few weeks has encouraged more people to enjoy spontaneous trips to the many UK holiday destinations, including Scarborough, as the tourism trade enjoys an increase in visitor numbers.

Popular hotel chain Travelodge, who opened it’s Scarborough Travelodge earlier this year, are reporting an increase in trade to its coastal destinations based on this weeks reservations.

The hotel chain currently has 373 hotels across the UK, and the £7.9million Scarborough Travelodge opened this May. The 140-room hotel, built on the site of the former St Nicholas Hotel Scarborough, has welcomed thousands of customers over the last few weeks.

A Travelodge spokesman has revealed that the chain are expecting the early peak to continue throughout July and August with people choosing to holiday in the UK.
